NIOSA Train Float Contest

Last week was Fiesta! in San Antonio, and at work, to celebrate, we had a float contest. My team decided to put together a Night in Old San Antonio (NIOSA) float. NIOSA is one of the Fiesta! events where they serve different foods from around the world and booze of course...so, we came up with the idea of doing a five float train...one float for each letter of NIOSA. We decided on a Mexican Fiesta! themed float, an Irish themed float, a Chinese themed float, a French Quarter (Mardi Gras) themed float, and a German themed float. And, even though I have a lady that's from Germany on my team...I somehow was given the task of putting together the German float...I did a really cool city scene for the French Quarter float, too. So, here is my German Oktoberfest themed float...the part I did at home...then I took it to work and the German lady, who makes dollhouses and such, put little picnic tables and bread and beer mugs and a keg, etc. It turned out really cute... The pictures of ...

When someone calls you 'Lovely', it might be the nicest compliment EVER.

P-Dub and I had dinner with my sister last night. She knew I was feeling bad about myself. Feeling not worth anything. Feeling ugly. Fat. Old. We sat down in our booth and she looked across the table at me and said, "I think you're LOVELY!" I almost burst into tears. So did she. I could tell from her eyes that she meant it. That she didn't just mean it because I'm her sister. I want to think I'm 'lovely', but all these things influence me and get in the way. My best friend, Andrea, and I have been a little distant lately. Last night she wanted me to go out downtown for a San Antonio Fiesta event. I just didn't want to deal with the crowd and the parking. I told her if she changed plans and wanted to do something 'normal'...not Fiesta-y, I would go. We had a few text messages back and forth...I know they were silly...and meant to be teasing...but I took them soooo seriously. I'm so sensitive and try not to be. I do get my...

My first attempt at scrapbooking...

I started a book for Gabby...Gabby from just before birth to 1-year old. I haven't gotten very far. P-Dub thinks I like buying and organizing scrapbooking materials more than I like actually doing it...maybe so, but, I have accomplished a few pages. I scanned these in while they were still in the album...not very smart, I know, but I didn't think about it till after I was done. AND...you only get to see a little bit because the pages are 12X12 and I can't scan the entire thing. The theme is a little haphazard right now...I'm still trying to find my 'groove' or whatever it's called in scrapbooking. I have learned, rather quickly, that I'm better at 'BLING' than I am at 'cutesy'. The Cover Page...zero? This page is all alone. I tried with the following pages to have things flow between the page on the left and the page on the right... Page 1 Page 2 Page 3 Page 4 Page 5 Page 6 Page 7 Page 8 Page 9 Page 10 WOW! Ten pages...ok, eleven, ...

My new FAVORITE thing!

Bath & Body Works Eucalyptus Spearmint...anything! I bought the Wallflowers and my apartment smells clean and like a spa. I want to get one for every single empty outlet in my the whole place!!! Another day of shop till you drop w/ P-Dub. I've redone my whole bedroom, including setting up a craft station. P-Dub just moved into an apartment down the street so we've been "home" shopping for him, too. Shopping....way too much shopping. I do need to start planning to go out and see Jess, Eric...and well, mostly Carly! Yes, Jess, I'm still planning on it...email me at work so I can work on getting the tickets! I hit my 3 year anniversary at work. AND...as of this month, if you've worked there for 3 years, you get 3 weeks vacation instead of two. You used to have to wait 5 years! Woo Hoo! Thus, I took off all last week when I had originally planned only 3 days. Three years. Wow. Go back a read a post from me three years ago! I bet I was crying and a...

Don't Get Too Excited...

...It's really just me looking...well, me looking and then playing "show and tell" with P-Dub. The good (exciting) part is that looking at engagement rings and saying what I like and don't like can be part of regular conversation...the part that I have to remember and you have to remember is he has not asked me to marry him. As of right now, today, these are my favorite ring/setting/diamond choices in order from top to bottom...starting with most favorite...my favorite cut is Marquis...even thought it's not the best cut...and I LOVE how this ring has the diamond set East/West.

Pictures & Frames

I bought a whole bunch of new frames this weekend. I decided it was time for all of them to match. So, for all of Gabby's 8 X 10 photos I bought all black frames instead of wood, silver, gold...mismatched like crazy! I also got a new black collage frame and decided it would be cool to print out the pictures in black & white, and then I decided to go for a different effect...kind of black & white. Not sure if I like it though...these are all of them...except for one which is on the True Romance? blog (there's two more I did in complete black & white over there, too that I put in a collage frame for two pictures).

Christmas 2009

My Christmas Craft

So, now that Jess, Eric and Carly have received their Christmas Craft gift, I can share. I made balls this Christmas. A bunch of balls. Why? Because Chicks like balls. I started to order them online and decided I wasn't going to pay $15 for a monogrammed ball...so I made my own...and then I made more and more and more...I've put anything you can imagine in a clear glass ball. Here are some pics to prove it...I'm kind of pissed that my favorite two...one for Andrea and one for Joy were wrapped before I got pictures of them... I made one similar to this for Andrea, Kelly, Becky, Joy, Jess and a little one for Carly...all black and white filled with white feathers and topped with a 2009 ribbon and pearls (This is Andrea's). Then I made "personalized" ones. So, Becky loves the beach and I made her a ball with sand and shells. Kelly's was all sparkly like this...and like her... For Joy I did "earthy" and I did a "traveling" one for An...
